Nickname: Anything goes with her - Emmy, Em, Emma.
Play by: Elle Fanning
Personality/History:A delicate little flower. Well, no, that’s not it. Emery’s more of a butterfly. More badger than snake, this little fourth year is cheerful and outgoing while surrounded with people (regardless of who) but painfully shy and timid in one-on-one interaction. The more people, the louder and more ridiculous she is but get her alone and she’ll stumble over herself and falter.
She isn’t particularly smart or talented; anything she does achieve she self-consciously pushes all the credit to someone else. Emery suffers from low self-esteem, a ball of insecurities and doubts about herself. She’s full of self-disappointment and is never completely satisfied with anything.
A little bit bookish, a little bit of a writer, give her something to read or something to write and she’ll content herself for hours. She keeps a composition notebook on her person - tucked in her bag or something - at all times and amongst her prize possessions are her fiction novels and a rather beat up typewriter that’s worse for the wear. The thing looks as through it’s on its last leg and she doesn’t use it as much as she looks at it while writing.
Emery’s a little bit maternal, protective of even strangers, and when riled, she has a terrible temper. Despite her slight social anxiety, she hovers around the Hospital Wing. She likes working and feels best when her hands are are busy.
Another blow to her already low self-esteem is her lisp. She’s suffered from this all her life, constantly having been in and out of speech therapy to little avail. In fact, up until her acceptance into Hogwarts, she was regularly taken from class for a therapy session at her school. Emery’s lisp makes it difficult for her to pronounce the ‘s’ sounds, making it more of a ‘th’ sound. This regularly causes problems when she attempts to initiate conversation with new people.
